It’s been a tumultuous week for the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network.
Shortly after Wednesday’s Orioles recreation towards the Houston Astros obtained underway, MASN colour commentator and Hall of Fame pitcher Jim Palmer tweeted that he was lacking from the published as a result of he has COVID-19.
“At home, sick with Covid,” Palmer tweeted. “It’s hit me hard!With you in spirit, Birdland.”
Palmer referred to as Tuesday’s 7-6 loss alongside play-by-play announcer Geoff Arnold and fellow Orioles Hall of Famer Mike Devereaux. All three have been absent from Wednesday’s tv and radio broadcasts, with Melanie Newman and Dave Johnson on the decision for MASN and Scott Garceau and Steve Melewski asserting for the Orioles Radio Network.
MASN drew nationwide consideration this week after studies that Kevin Brown, the community’s lead play-by-play announcer for Orioles video games, was pulled from broadcasts in late July. Brown’s exodus started a day after a July 23 pregame section wherein he identified that the Orioles, a crew that held one in all baseball’s 5 worst information every season from 2018 to 2021, had struggled on the highway towards the Tampa Bay Rays and had an opportunity to win a sequence at Tropicana Field for the primary time since 2017.
Brown is scheduled to rejoin MASN’s broadcasts Friday, when the Orioles start a sequence at Seattle.
Palmer, 77, received three American League Cy Young Awards and three World Series titles with Baltimore, a franchise for which his 268 wins are a report. He was among the many members of the 1983 crew, the Orioles’ final to win a World Series, honored this previous weekend.
The COVID-19 prognosis is Palmer’s second publicized well being scare this season. He underwent a process for melanoma in April.
