The runners-up West Indies of the year 2013 could not give any challenge to Australia.
Wellington, Australia continued their dominance as they defeated West Indies by seven wickets in a one-sided league match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 here on Tuesday. Australia, the most successful team in the history of the tournament, are leading with eight points from four wins in four matches. The runners-up West Indies of the year 2013 could not give any challenge to Australia.
Electing to bat after winning the toss, the team was bundled out for just 131 runs in 45.5 overs. For the West Indies, captain Stephanie Taylor was able to bat only, who scored 50 runs in 91 balls. West Indies lost wickets at regular intervals right from the start and the team never recovered from it. Although Taylor stood at one end, wickets kept falling at the other end. The struggle of the West Indies batsmen can be gauged from the fact that the best partnership from the team was 36 runs for the fourth wicket.

This partnership happened between Taylor and wicket-keeper batsman Shemaine Campbell (20). For Australia, Ellyse Perry took 22 wickets while Ashleigh Gardner took three wickets for 25 runs. Jess Jonassen took two wickets for 18 runs. Australia in reply registered an easy victory at 132 for three in 30.2 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 83 off 95 balls with the help of nine fours from opener Rachel Haynes.

Australia lost the wickets of Alyssa Healy (03), captain Meg Lenning (00) and Ellyse Perry (10) early, taking the team’s score to 58 for three. Rachel, however, gave the team victory with an unbroken 74-run partnership with Beth Mooney (28 not out).
For West Indies, Chinelle Henry took 20 wickets, Haley Mathews 31 and Shemila Connell took one wicket for 32 runs. Australia’s team is unbeaten in the tournament so far. West Indies suffered their second consecutive defeat in four matches and are on the fifth spot with four points.(Agency)
