Lucknow: The Yogi government is speeding up the work of making all the major rivers pollution free in the state. Under the Namami Gange Project, rivers, which are considered to be the lifelines of cities, are being given new life. A major work of purification of Yamuna river has been done in Mathura, the city of Kanha. According to the latest report of Namami Gange, for the first time 20 drains falling into Yamuna have been tapped at a cost of Rs.460.45 crore. Also a new STP of 30 MLD has been prepared. Along with rejuvenating the rivers, the problem of sewage falling in them is being solved in a state-of-the-art manner. The government is making every effort for this.
At the same time, the Ramganga sewerage scheme in Moradabad has brought a big change under the Namami Gange project. Here 13 drains have been stopped from falling into the river at a cost of 330.05 crore, along with a state-of-the-art STP of 58 MLD is ready. FSTP of 10 KLD has been made at Chunar Nagar of Mirzapur at a cost of 2.70 crores. In Firozabad, two big drains have been tapped by I&D method at a cost of Rs.51.06 crore. In Kasganj, construction of 58 MLD STP has been completed with tapping of 2 drains for Rs 76.73 crore. The work done by the government to clean the rivers has brought a big change.

Use of new methods of sewer treatment proved effective
Anurag Srivastava, Principal Secretary, Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department informed that the state government is constructing sewerage treatment plants with state-of-the-art methods. Biogas plants are being used in these along with minimum consumption of electricity. The use of new methods of sewer treatment has proved effective. The sewage from these treatment plants is discharged into the rivers after being purified. Due to this the amount of pollution in the rivers has reduced. The work of cleaning the silt in the rivers with machines and boats is also being done at a fast pace.
