A lady strolling alongside the Charles River in Waltham was reportedly assaulted Sunday evening, in line with Massachusetts State Police who’re making an attempt to trace down the suspect.
The girl in her 20s was strolling on the footbridge between Newton Street and Farewell Street close to Shaw’s at round 8 p.m., she advised police.
The girl then heard footsteps come up from behind, and she or he was reportedly grabbed by somebody who tried to place his hand over her mouth, in line with State Police.
The girl screamed, and the suspect let go of her and ran off.
She described the suspect as a person in his 30s or 40s, with tan pores and skin, common top and with athletic construct. He was carrying a baseball hat.
Units from Mass State Police and Waltham Police responded and searched the world, however they weren’t capable of finding the suspect. The investigation into the assault stays energetic.
“We urge the public to be aware of their surroundings and the presence of other people around them when walking in any public space,” a State Police spokesperson stated in a press release.
“People should carry a cell phone, don’t wear headphones, and may also consider carrying pepper spray,” the spokesperson added. “If you see anything our anyone suspicious call 911 immediately. If you are assaulted, if at all possible scream, make noise, and fight back.”
