Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday sought evidence from the central government on the surgical strikes carried out in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in September 2019. Chandrashekhar Rao said that there was nothing wrong in Rahul Gandhi asking for proof of surgical strike. Not only this, I can also ask for proof.
He said that just before the elections, there is a possibility of disturbances on the borders. We know how BJP can use surgical strike for political purposes.
According to news agency ANI, to a question on the surgical strike, Rao said, “Even today, I am asking for proof. Let the Indian government show the evidence. The BJP spreads false propaganda that’s why people are asking for it.”
He said, “BJP is using surgical strike politically. Army is fighting on border. If anyone is dying, it is Army jawans, and they should be given credit for it, not BJP.”

Rao’s remarks come at a time when he is at loggerheads with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over the issue of evidence on the surgical strikes.
The Assam Chief Minister had said on Friday, “Look at the mentality of these people. General Bipin Rawat was the pride of the country. Under his leadership, India conducted surgical strikes in Pakistan. Rahul Gandhi asked for proof of the strike. Have we ever asked whether you are the son of Rajiv Gandhi or not. What right do you have to demand proof from my army for proof of this?”
Following Sarma’s comments, Telangana Chief Minister urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief JP Nadda to sack the Assam CM over his comments on Rahul Gandhi. Hitting back at KCR, Sarma hit out at Rao saying it shows his mentality.

Sarma said, “I believe it is the biggest crime to question the Army whether they have conducted surgical strikes or not. He (Telangana CM KCR) got agitated by my remarks on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, but our Not with Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on the Army.”
Describing KCR’s statement as irresponsible, BJP said that this statement is an insult to the martyrdom of the martyrs of the country including Pulwama. Let us tell you that the Indian Army conducted surgical strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in September 2016 after the killing of 19 Indian Army personnel at the base camp in Uri.
