Pombhurna. The tiger has created panic in the tehsil for the last several days. The incident of a tiger attack on a woman who went to pick cotton in Kasargatta, while being fresh, attacked Sandhya Vilas Bawane (35), a woman who went for a walk this morning and was attacked by a sitting tiger. in which the woman died. This incident took place on Pombhurna Velva Marg at 6 am today. This incident has created panic among the morning walkers. With this incident, the death toll in the tiger, leopard attack in the district has gone up to 37.
Tiger visible for a month
Sandhya Bawane is a resident of Velva village of Tehsil, this morning she went out for a walk on Velva Pombhurna Marg. Tiger is visible on this route since last one month. But on the evening of going out for a walk this morning, a tiger sitting near Dr. Parsmani Urade’s field attacked the woman. Seeing the tiger being attacked, other youths who came out on the morning walk tried to drive away the tiger by making noise. By then the woman had died.
Tension persisted for 8 hours
As soon as the information was received, Velva and nearby villagers reached the spot. The team of Pombhurna Police and Forest Department also reached with the team force. Citizens of the complex warned not to pick up the carcass until the tiger cannibal was settled. Due to this, a situation of heavy tension was created at the spot for 8 hours.
In view of the increasing anger and anger of the citizens, the Forest Department has given a written assurance of Rs. 5 lakh to the family of the deceased and a permanent job to one person of the deceased’s family. After this, the citizens made a Panchnama of the body and allowed it to be sent for post-mortem. Officers, employees of Forest Department and Police Department were present on this occasion. The deceased woman has two children in which son is studying in 8th and daughter is studying in 12th. The Forest Department is investigating the matter.
37 victims of violent animals since January
Since January this year, 37 people have died in tiger and leopard attacks. The number of violent and other animals like tiger, leopard is increasing in Tadoba Andhari Tiger Project in the district, the main reason for this is also that the district has a nutritious environment for these animals. Many times, during the work in the field, the workers are attacked by violent animals, in which they die. There is still half a month of December left and 37 people have been victims of animals so far, on an average, at least three people are falling prey to violent animals every month.
