IMD Weather Forecast Update: The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted that light to moderate rain or thundershowers are possible over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh in the next 24 hours. Also, there is a possibility of snowfall in these areas along with thunderstorms.
The IMD’s official statement also said that there is a possibility of light rain or snowfall in Uttarakhand during the next 24 hours. Whereas in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, fresh snowfall may occur in many areas and the plains of the valley may receive rain.
The statement issued by the Meteorological Department mentioned that there is a possibility of light rain in Punjab and Haryana and Chandigarh during the next 24 hours. Apart from this, rain or snowfall has been forecast for different areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh between March 7 and March 9.
Meanwhile, light to moderate snowfall is possible at many higher altitude areas, including the famous ski-resort of Gulmarg. Fresh snowfall has also been recorded at Gurez and Zojila Pass on the Srinagar-Leh highway.

Officials have said that the weather is likely to remain partly cloudy with the possibility of light rain or snowfall in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir till March 13. Officials said it was raining in the plains of the valley till the final reports came in.
The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain or snow at isolated places till Monday evening. The official statement mentioned that there is a possibility of moderate rain or lightning with isolated thunderstorms over Maharashtra, Gujarat region, East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh from March 7 to March 10.
On the other hand, moderate rain and thundershowers have been predicted over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for the next 24 hours over southern parts of India. The IMD has issued rain, thunderstorm and snowfall warnings for coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and the Himalayan region including Kashmir Valley till March 10.
