Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has established new dimensions in the field of solar energy. It is the result of the efforts of Yogi Government that solar energy is continuously expanding in Uttar Pradesh. The use of solar energy is increasing in the state from government buildings, street lights to houses. The government is especially expanding the solar power projects in Bundelkhand and Purvanchal. Both these areas are emerging as hubs of solar energy in the state.
Since coming to power, the Yogi government has been making continuous efforts to increase solar power generation. Under the new solar energy policy, the state government has accepted a proposal of Rs 7500 crore for 1535 MW. A target has been set to complete this by 2022. 24 solar power projects of 420 MW capacity have been started in the state.
Private investment also invited
Solar power generation in the state has increased to 1350 MW. With the efforts of the government, solar rooftops of 235 MW capacity have been installed in the state. With the effort of the state government, ‘Energy Conservation Building Code 2018’ has been implemented to save energy in commercial buildings. Yogi government also invited private investment of Rs 2492 crore under the Bio-Energy Enterprise Promotion Policy. Solar power generation units of 180 MW capacity set up at a cost of Rs 720 crore.

Use of solar energy for water supply also
Solar power units of 4000 MW have been installed in Bundelkhand. The state government has installed solar rooftops on canals in Bundelkhand. Along with this, solar energy is also being used for piped water supply under the Har Ghar Nal Yojana. Its advantage is that there will be less dependence on conventional electricity. Solar plants have been set up at various places in Purvanchal. Solar rooftops are being installed on government buildings. The government is encouraging farmers to install solar pumps for irrigation.
Solar street lights installed in 25,569 markets
It is the result of the efforts of the Yogi government that now solar street lights are spreading light on the markets and roads in the villages. With the help of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Solar Street Light Scheme, solar street lights have been installed in 25569 markets. At the same time, work has been done to install 13791 solar street light plants in selected revenue villages under Mukhyamantri Samagra Gramya Vikas Yojna. To give benefit to the farmers, 19579 solar pumps useful in irrigation have been installed. The installation of 01 lakh 80 thousand solar power plants from door to door in the village has changed the picture of the village. For the first time, 3400 solar RO water plants have been installed in primary schools in the state, so that children can get pure water in the school itself. The Yogi government is making efforts from the beginning to increase the use of solar energy in the state so that the dependence on conventional electricity can be reduced and the people of the state can get rid of the power crisis.
