Nagpur. Being an election year for the Municipal Corporation, in the budget presented for the financial year 2021-22, Rs 6 crore has been earmarked for the election expenditure. were proposed. But now it is being estimated that up to 10 crores will be spent on this item. Therefore, provision of additional funds will be made in the budget re-appropriation soon. Till then, a proposal to spend 2.45 crore for stationery, printing and others required to complete the election process was placed before the Standing Committee on Tuesday, which was given the green signal by the Standing Committee Chairman Prakash Bhoyar. He said that in view of the stationery scam, now the tender process will be completed for the purchase of necessary materials for the elections. While the workers of political parties are engaged in divisions regarding the general elections of the Municipal Corporation, the administration is also busy in preparations.
7.56 crore was spent in 2017
It is noteworthy that in the general elections held in the year 2017, 7.56 crore was spent. To complete the election process, arrangements have to be made for stationery, forms, envelopes, information booklets, information boards, video cameras, CCTV cameras in the zone, pandals, laying, barricades, booth arrangements, ramps at polling stations, electrical materials, catering etc. For which an expenditure of 2.45 crores is estimated.
Assistant commissioner Dhamecha said that apart from this, the polling officers, employees serving in the elections have to pay according to the government rates, due to which this expenditure is estimated to be close to 10 crores. Although a provision of 6 crores was made in the budget, but soon a provision of 10 crores will be made in the new budget.
Reddy will hear the objections
According to the guidelines issued by the State Election Commission regarding the creation of the new division, objections and suggestions are to be accepted by 3 pm on February 14. Which will be heard on February 26. The State Election Commission has appointed Principal Secretary, Forest Department, B. Venugopal Reddy has been appointed for the hearing. State Election Commission Secretary Kiran Kurundkar issued orders to the Municipal Corporation in this regard. Municipal Commissioner, District Magistrate will also be present during the hearing. On March 2, the final draft of the new division composition will be sent to the Election Commission.
