    Bernie Sanders was pressured to step in to stop a fist battle throughout a heated confrontation at a US Senate listening to.

    The skilled senator performed peacekeeper after Republican senator Markwayne Mullin, a former-cage-fighter-turned-politician, took to his toes to confront union chief Sean O’Brien.

    Moments earlier, Mr Mullin branded Mr O’Brien, the president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, a “moron” and challenged him to “stand your butt up”.

    Mr Sanders yelled at Mr Mullin to sit down down, banged his gavel a number of instances and instructed each to cease their row.

    “You are a United States senator!” Mr Sanders yelled at Mr Mullin.

    “This is a hearing, and God knows the American people have enough contempt for Congress, let’s not make it worse.”

    While the pair by no means got here head to head, they shouted for round six minutes as Mr Sanders tried to regain order of the Senate listening to.

    The two appeared to conclude their change by agreeing to have espresso collectively.

    The change occurred after Oklahoma senator, Mr Mullin, recalled an interplay he had with Mr O’Brien in June on social media platform X, previously generally known as Twitter.

    At the time, the pair mentioned partaking in an MMA battle for charity.

    Mr Mullin learn aloud Mr O’Brien’s unique set of tweets in the course of the listening to on Tuesday, which stated: “Greedy CEO who pretends like he’s self-made.

    After reading out the post, Mr Mullin said the pair could “end it right here”, before calling on Mr O’Brien to “stand your butt up”.

    “You stand your butt up,” replied Mr O’Brien, earlier than Mr Sanders intervened.
