- The issue of pollution spreading from Khaparkheda power plant
Nagpur. The officials of Khaparkheda Power Plant have written a letter to around 40 gram panchayats requesting them to carry fly ash free of cost. Any needy villager can take fly ash from Nandgaon and Waregaon pand free of cost. Loading in vehicles is also being done free of cost by the power plant. Only the person carrying the ashes has to pay the rent of the vehicle.
Chief Engineer of Khaparkheda Power Plant RS Ghuge said that the dumping of fly ash in Nandgaon and Waregaon has been completely stopped. The pond filled with coal ash is also being emptied.
At present, the brick kilns operating in the village are being given ashes. Sarpanchs of about 40 villages settled around the power plant have also been informed to carry ashes free of cost. It is not possible to give information to every person, so the Sarpanch will do the work of informing the needy person of the village.

Chief Engineer Ghuge said that a road is being built in Kamathi, in which ash can be consumed. For this a letter has been written to the District Magistrate. He said that the pipe line disposing of fly ash has also been cut off permanently and dumping has been stopped completely. The pipeline will also be removed after getting permission from the higher authorities.
He said that according to the guidelines of the government, pollution will be reduced. It is noteworthy that on February 14, Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray took stock of the pollution spreading from the Khaparkheda Power Plant and after listening to the complaints of the villagers, ordered the officials to reduce the pollution. He has ordered the Nandgaon and Waregaon fly ash ponds to be emptied by March 15. After this, the officials of the power plant have started emptying the ash pond in a hurry.
