New Delhi/Washington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold an online meeting with US President Joe Biden on Monday. The two leaders will review the ongoing bilateral cooperation as well as exchange views on recent developments in South Asia, the Indo-Pacific and global issues of mutual interest. The Ministry of External Affairs made the announcement about this online meeting on Sunday. The online meeting between the two leaders will take place ahead of the fourth session of the ‘two plus two’ ministerial talks between India and the US in Washington on Monday.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will hold talks with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken on April 11 in Washington as part of the fourth session of the talks. “Prime Minister Modi and President Biden will exchange views on recent developments in South Asia, the Indo-Pacific and global issues of mutual interest during the meeting, as well as reviewing existing bilateral cooperation,” the ministry said in a statement.

“The online meeting will enable the two sides to continue their regular and high-level contacts with the aim of further strengthening the bilateral Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership,” the statement said. Meanwhile, according to news received from Washington, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said, “President Biden will hold an online meeting with Prime Minister Modi on Monday to further deepen the relationship between our governments, economies and our people.”
He said Biden and Modi will discuss a range of issues during this time, including ending the COVID-19 pandemic, combating the climate crisis, strengthening the global economy and strengthening security, democracy and security in the Indo-Pacific region. Promoting prosperity includes maintaining a rules-based international order.
Saki said the two leaders would take forward the ongoing dialogue about the development of the Indo-Pacific economic infrastructure and high-quality infrastructure. “The two sides will continue to coordinate closely to deal with issues such as the consequences of Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine and rising energy and food prices,” he said. Biden had earlier held talks with Modi along with other Quad leaders in March. (agency)
