Talking about 319 terabytes per second, at this speed, as soon as you tap on the download button, all the movies of Netflix will be downloaded in a few seconds.
Internet Speed
Japan’s National Institute of Information and Communication Technology (NICT) recently set the world’s fastest internet record. The researchers here have surprised everyone by transferring data at a speed of 319Tbps (terabyte per second). The most important thing in this is that there has not been any degradation in it during the data transfer.
The team transferred data over a distance of about 3001 km at a speed of 319 terabits per second, which is almost twice the old speed. Earlier the data transfer speed was recorded at 178Tbps which was achieved by the researchers of University College of London.
The speed of 319 Tbps is the fastest to transfer data online and if it is understood in simple language, then there is 1024 gigabytes (GB) in one terabyte (TB). But at present, if we talk about the speed of internet present in homes, then it is of megabytes per second (Mbps). The speed of 1Gbps is 10 times faster than the Mbps connectivity which is equivalent to the speed of 1,000Mbps.
What can you do with 319 Tbps speed?
Talking about 319 terabytes per second, at this speed, as soon as you tap on the download button, all the movies of Netflix will be downloaded in a few seconds. With the speed of 178 Tbps achieved in the past, all Netflix movies can be downloaded in less than a second. With this you can get an idea of how fast this speed will be.
The speed of 319Tbps achieved by NICT is so fast that you can download 57,000 full-length movies in less than a second. However, this is just a theory as no user will be able to download 57,000 movies at a time in a second. Apart from this, with a speed of 319 Tbps, you can download the entire Spotify catalog in just three seconds. But this speed is not commercially available and will require supporting infrastructure.
Which country gives the highest speed
A report of 2020 claimed that the highest speed of 100Mbps has been recorded in the world, which was achieved in South Korea. At the same time, this report also claimed that the fastest fixed-line broadband speed was achieved in Singapore which was of 2015 Mbps. At the same time, the report said that the speed of 210.73 Mbps and 194.47 Mbps was achieved in Hong Kong and Romania respectively. On the other hand, if we talk about India, then the fixed broadband speed of 38.19 Mbps and mobile connection speed of 12.16 Mbps was achieved here.
With this, researchers are hoping that with this mechanism the existing model of data transmission will be upgraded and the speed being claimed by 5G can be achieved which is not yet available everywhere.
