Thane : Union Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri informed the Lok Sabha on Thursday that the second phase of Nashik Neo Metro and Nagpur Metro, along with Thane The projects proposed by Thane Municipal Corporation for Ring Route Project i.e. internal metro project will be decided soon. In such a situation, now these projects are expected to get approval soon, while the traffic problem of the city has also increased.
He informed that 16 metro proposals of the state including union territories have been submitted to the central government for implementation and approval. It includes the above three proposals of Maharashtra. Nashik’s Neo Metro is 33 km long and has a completion period of four years from the date of approval, while Nagpur Metro-2 is 43.80 km long. And the inner ring route metro of Thane Municipal Corporation is 29 km. Puri clarified that the completion period of both of them is five years from the date of approval. Apart from this, there are metro projects in Delhi, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan. As per Metro Rail Project 2017, such projects may receive financial assistance from the Center at the request of the states depending upon the feasibility of the project in cities or urban areas in a state or union territory.

The Thane Municipal Corporation had earlier estimated the cost of the proposed Metro to be around Rs 13,000.95 crore. However, the Center had rejected the proposal saying it was not possible and asked them to submit a proposal for LRT (Ring Route).
These will be the stations of the internal metro project
New Thane Station – Rayaldevi, Wagle Chowk, Lokmanya Nagar Bus Depot, Shivai Nagar, Neelkanth Terminal, Gandhinagar, Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar Natyagriha, Manpada, Dongripada, Vijayanagari, Waghbil, Water Front, Patlipada, Azadnagar Bus Stand, Manormanagar, Kolshet Industrial Area There are 22 stations like , Balkum Naka, Balkum Pada, Rabodi, Shivaji Chowk, Thane Junction. Out of these, New Thane station and Thane Junction are two underground stations and remaining 20 stations are elevated.
