Thane: In Mumbai, four children in the age group of six to 11 years boarded a local train but due to the heavy rush, their mother who accompanies them remained at the station, prompting policemen to reunite with their children. Police gave this information. According to an official release issued by Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar Police Commissionerate on Thursday, the incident took place on January 26. Some police personnel and Sub-Inspector Ujjwal Arke had cycled from Mira Road to Gateway of India on the occasion of Republic Day.
On his return, he boarded a local train from Churchgate to Mira Road. At Andheri station, two women who boarded the local train looked upset and were crying. When asked by Arke, a woman named Soni Singh said that she had left with her mother-in-law and four children – three sons and a daughter. He told that they wanted to catch a train for Virar at Andheri station.

When the train arrived, due to overcrowding, the woman allowed the children to board first and the train started before the woman and her mother-in-law could board. After listening to Singh, Arke immediately contacted the Railway Control Room and Government Railway Police and informed them about the incident.
All railway stations falling in the way of the said local train were informed about this and a search operation was launched, the statement said. The children were found by the police at Borivali station, after which the woman was handed over her children when the train arrived. Senior officers of Police Commissionerate appreciated the work done by the policemen. (agency)
