Thane: The effect of the demolition of the statue of Maharaja Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj by the Karnataka government in Bangalore and the absurd statement made by the Chief Minister there is now visible in Maharashtra. Prohibition movement was carried out by Thane district unit of Maratha Federation of India outside Thane railway station under the guidance of Konkan President Sadanand Rao Bhosale on the orders of Maharashtra State President Bansidada Doke. During this, the national president of the federation, Dr. Appasaheb Ahir himself was present.
Expressing strong opposition to the Karnataka government over the incident, Appasaheb said, “It should be noted that Maratha Federation of India will intensify the agitation if the Karnataka government does not take strict action against the culprits.” Maharashtra State General Secretary and National Spokesperson of Maratha Union, Rajan Gawand strongly condemned the statement made by the Chief Minister of Karnataka regarding desecration of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The government there should apologise. At the same time, he warned that if it is not done, the federation can do this movement in Karnataka.

On this occasion, Thane District Executive President Shreya Tatkare, Udyog Aghadi Executive President Praveena Sawant, Cultural Alliance President Deepesh More also expressed their anger over the incident. At the suggestion of Maharashtra State President Bansidada Doke, Thane District President Kishore Pawar, City President Nilesh Desai, City President Suvarna Shetty, Ram Shinde, National Secretary Rajendra Jagdale, State Vice President Sanjay Mirgude, State Vice President Indumati Pethe, District Secretary Vijay Bhosale, District Joint Secretary Ajay Rane, Vidhi Aghadi city president Swapnil Patil, cultural alliance deputy city president Akash Utekar and other women and men office bearers were present in large numbers.
