As soon as the news of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas becoming parents through surrogacy, there was an influx of people congratulating the couple everywhere from social media. However, a tweet by Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen came during this time, in which she questioned whether surrogacy mothers could feel connected with such ‘readymade’ babies. However, Taslima later clarified in another tweet that she did not make this tweet in relation to Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, but is criticizing her on social media for questioning decisions related to the personal lives of others.
Taslima had said in her tweet, “How do those mothers feel when they get readymade babies through surrogacy. Do they also have the same feelings for children as mothers giving birth to children?”
How do those mothers feel when they get their readymade babies through surrogacy? Do they have the same feelings for the babies like the mothers who give birth to the babies?

After this, he made more tweets related to surrogacy, in which he proved his stand about it. He said that surrogacy is used to exploit economically poor women.
He said, “Surrogacy is possible because there are poor women in the world. Rich people always want for their own benefit that poverty should be maintained in the society. If you are in great need of raising children, then you should help this orphan and homeless child.” Get adopted. Children should inherit your qualities, it’s just a selfish ego.”
Surrogacy is possible because there are poor women. Rich people always want the existence of poverty in the society for their own interests. If you badly need to raise a child, adopt a homeless one. Children must inherit your traits—it is just a selfish narcissistic ego. — taslima nasreen (@taslimanasreen) January 22, 2022
Taslima wrote in another tweet, ‘I will not accept surrogacy until rich women are also ready to be surrogate moms. I will not accept the burqa until men also start loving it. I will not accept prostitution unless male prostitution is also formed and men wait for female customers. Until this happens, surrogacy, burqa, prostitution are only means of exploitation of women and the poor.
I won’t accept surrogacy until rich women become surrogate mom.I won’t accept burqa until men wear it out of love.I won’t accept prostitution until male prostitutions r built & men wait for female customers.Otherwise surrogacy, burqa, prostitution r just exploitation of women& poor

Taslima said, “My tweets about surrogacy reflect my different views on surrogacy. It has nothing to do with Priyanka and Nick. I love this couple.”
My surrogacy tweets are about my different opinions on surrogacy. Nothing to do with Priyanka-Nick. I love the couple. — taslima nasreen (@taslimanasreen) January 23, 2022
Taslima said, “Many people support surrogacy as a ‘personal decision’, but at the same time people do not support someone’s ‘personal opinion’, if that opinion is against surrogacy. Some intolerant people took to my Twitter handle. In fact, these people do not support anything ‘private’, they just support the collective ego.” Taslima said, “The body is not meant to be sold or given on rent. We sell our labor and power, but we cannot allow anyone to encroach or invade the body.”
However, Taslima’s comments were not liked by many on social media. He said that many times women opt for surrogacy because they cannot give birth to a child due to medical reasons.
One user wrote, “Since when a mother’s love has been determined by how much pain she has endured in giving birth to a child. To associate someone’s ability to bear pain with her quality is a very hate act.”
since when does the quality of ‘motherhood’ depend on how much discomfort one has borne? equating one’s tolerance of pain with their worth is a very toxic trait to possess. https://t.co/UkI1SybCWz — sivvy (@jungbareumx) January 23, 2022
At the same time, a user wrote, “Why don’t you ask such questions to fathers.”
