Online gamblers and gamblers have to take action under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act. A provision is needed in the MPDA Act to protect against the ill effects of online gambling. The current Mumbai Gambling Prevention Act, 1887, enacted by amending this 150-year-old law, provides for online gamblers with imprisonment of more than three years and a minimum fine of Rs 10 lakh.
