Mumbai: In view of the increasing cases of COVID infection in Mumbai, instructions are being given to take special precautions at railway stations. There is a huge increase in the case of Corona, while there is also a crowd in local trains. Only those taking both doses of the vaccine have been allowed to travel in local and other public transport.
Social distancing is difficult in local trains due to heavy rush. Awareness campaign is being conducted through RPF on Western Railway regarding the compliance of Corona rules. CPRO Sumit Thakur informed that Western Railway on its part is taking necessary steps to make the passengers aware about the necessary precautions to control the spread of this pandemic.
Passengers are being appealed to wear masks
Lakhs of passengers travel in Mumbai’s local trains, which are called the lifeline of the city. RPF is conducting a massive awareness campaign at major stations of Mumbai Division of Western Railway to sensitize them to follow the COVID protocol while traveling. Passengers are being made aware about the use of masks, hand sanitization and social distancing by the RPF staff. Passengers are being made aware and educated about this subject through banners, pamphlets and loudspeakers in collaboration with various NGOs. However, given the heavy social distancing is impossible. Passengers are constantly being appealed to wear masks.
