Bollywood director Vivek Agnihotri’s film ‘The Kashmir Files’ based on the massacre and exodus of Kashmiri Hindus is garnering a lot of applause across the country. People all over the country are very fond of the film. Meanwhile, in order to maintain communal harmony in Rajasthan’s Kota, the administration has imposed Section 144 for a month from Tuesday.
According to the order, section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC) will remain in force in Kota from Tuesday, March 22 to April 21, 2022. This order has been issued by the Kota District Collector and Magistrate in view of maintaining law and order with the screening of ‘The Kashmir Files’.
It has been said in the order that in view of the sensitive festivals like Mahavir Jayanti, Good Friday and Vaishakhi etc. as well as the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ being released in the cinema halls, it is necessary to stop the gathering of crowds, demonstrations, gatherings and processions. Section 144 will remain in force in the district from March 22 to April 21.

The order has been issued by Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Raj Kumar Singh, who is currently the acting District Collector, as Harimohan Meena is on leave. After the new order, there will be a ban on the gathering of more than five people at one place in Kota for a month.
Vivek Agnihotri protested
Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, director of ‘The Kashmir Files’ has lodged a strong protest against this ban. Agnihotri has sought the intervention of Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in this matter. Agnihotri wrote in a tweet that Anurag Thakur ji, if the state fails to make a film on the right to justice in a democracy, then what should we think of justice?
Apart from this, he has further written for Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot that Ashok Gehlot ji, terrorists have only one power that they create fear and we get scared. Addressing the audience, the director has written that it is time for justice for you.
BJP ruled states made tax free
The film, which released on March 11, has been declared tax free in many BJP-ruled states. The name of Uttar Pradesh has also been included in the latest list of BJP-ruled states that have made the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ tax-free. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tweeted on Tuesday, “#TheKashmirFiles film has been made tax free in Uttar Pradesh.”
Apart from UP, the BJP-ruled governments of Tripura, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Goa have made the film tax-free in the state. That is, till now the film has been made tax free in seven states. A film being tax free in a state means that the concerned state will not charge its share of GST on the sale of tickets for that film.
The film is based on the killing and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the Kashmir Valley and is directed by Vivek Agnihotri. The producer of this film is Abhishek Agarwal. Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film on the massacre and exodus of Kashmiri Hindus is slated to release on March 11. The film starred actors like Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi and Mithun Chakraborty.
