AmritsarPunjab Transport Minister Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding on Saturday sought to know from the Delhi Chief Minister why his government was not allowing Punjab government buses to reach the Delhi International Airport.
Vading, during his meeting with Arvind Kejriwal outside a hotel here, alleged that private buses, however, are being allowed to go up to the Indira Gandhi International Airport, which charge almost three times the fare. Vading told Kejriwal, “Volvo buses of the state transport undertaking have been stopped from going till the Delhi airport, which are charging only Rs 1,200 per passenger.

On the other hand, private buses have been allowed and they are openly ‘robbing’ Punjabis by charging Rs 3,000 to 3,500 per passenger.” The Punjab minister was specifically referring to the buses run by an influential family.
“By doing this, Kejriwal is supporting the transport mafia, which is looting Punjab,” an official release from Wadding’s office said. The minister said that 13 letters were written to the Chief Minister of Delhi, but he was pretending to be unaware of the issue. Wadding told Kejriwal that if he did not want to allow Punjab government buses to the Delhi airport, the Delhi government could run buses from the airport to Punjab and the Congress government in the border state would facilitate the movement of those buses.
