New Delhi. President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday called for celebrating ‘Bharatiyata’ on this Republic Day, saying that the struggle of humanity against the corona virus is still going on and it is a matter of pride for India that We displayed extraordinary determination and efficiency against this pandemic.

Along with this, he emphasized that the performance of the fundamental duties as mentioned in the constitution creates a proper environment for the fundamental rights.
He said, “It is a celebration of the pride of Indianness that binds us all together. On this day in the year 1950, this proud identity of all of us got a formal form. On that day, India was established as the world’s largest republic and we, the people of India, enacted a constitution which is a living document of our collective consciousness. Our diverse and successful democracy is appreciated all over the world. Every year on Republic Day, we celebrate our dynamic democracy and the spirit of national unity. Due to the pandemic, this year’s celebrations may have less fanfare but our spirit is as strong as ever.”

He said, “Our constitution is comprehensive because it also details the working arrangements of the state. But the guiding principles of democracy, justice, liberty, equality and fraternity are briefly outlined in the brief preamble of the Constitution. These ideals have formed the solid foundation on which our grand republic stands firmly. Our collective heritage is also reflected in these values.
He said, “These values of life have been given basic importance by our Constitution in the form of Fundamental Rights and Fundamental Duties of the citizens. Rights and duties are two sides of the same coin. The observance of the Fundamental Duties mentioned in the Constitution by the citizens creates a proper environment for the Fundamental Rights. While fulfilling the basic duty of serving the nation when called upon, crores of our countrymen have turned from cleanliness campaign to COVID vaccination campaign into a mass movement. A huge credit for the success of such campaigns goes to our dutiful citizens. I am sure that our countrymen will continue to strengthen the campaigns of national interest with their active participation with this devotion.
The President said, “Human communities have never needed each other’s help as much as they are today. Now more than two years have passed but humanity’s struggle against the corona virus is still going on. Thousands of people have lost their lives in this pandemic. The whole world economy has been hit. The world community has faced an unprecedented calamity. In new forms, this virus has been presenting new crises. This situation remains an extraordinary challenge to mankind.”

He said, “Tackling the pandemic was bound to be more difficult in India. The density of population in our country is very high, and being a developing economy, we did not have adequate level of infrastructure and necessary resources to fight this invisible enemy. But it is in such difficult times that the ability of a nation to fight shines. I feel proud to say that we have displayed exceptional determination and efficiency in the fight against Corona-Virus.”
He said, “During the first year itself, we expanded and strengthened the healthcare infrastructure and went ahead to help other countries as well. By the second year, we had developed indigenous vaccines and launched the largest vaccination campaign in world history. This campaign is progressing at a fast pace. We have provided vaccines and other medical facilities to many countries. Global organizations have appreciated this contribution of India. (agency)
