Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has directed the officials of the Horticulture and Food Processing Department to set up more food processing units at the village level. Promote more and more and more employment generation through these units should be ensured. He also directed that for improvement in the Uttar Pradesh Food Processing Industries Policy-2017, the draft should be submitted within a week. He also directed to ensure the speedy process of selection and recruitment of vacant posts of officers and employees in the Food Processing Department as per rules. Keshav Prasad Maurya was reviewing the plans of the Food Processing Department at his camp office 7- Kalidas Marg.
Keshav Prasad Maurya directed to make innovative efforts towards employment generation by promoting food processing industries in Uttar Pradesh. Maurya said that for this, by preparing a concrete and effective strategy, better implementation of the schemes being run should be ensured.

He also directed that all possible efforts should be made to provide benefits of various schemes of the department to the genuine eligible people till the village level in the entire state. The Deputy Chief Minister said that in the field of food processing, people should be connected with employment by training them about the processing of flour, rice, fruits, vegetables, spices, bakery, confectionery etc. He said that the food processing sector has the largest employment potential after the IT sector. The development of industries will not only lead to the development of the food processing sector, but will also lead to the development of other related industries and the service sector. In rural areas, farmers’ income should be increased by variating local raw materials and adding value. The contribution of food processing industries in employment generation should be ensured. Promotion of food processing industries in the state is one of the priorities of the government in view of the availability of sufficient raw material and unlimited possibilities.
Deputy Chief Minister gave many instructions
He inquired about the progress of other schemes including Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, Uttar Pradesh Food Processing Industries Policy, Mahatma Gandhi Food Processing Village Self Employment Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Micro Food Industries Upgradation Scheme and gave important directions to the officers. Additional Chief Secretary Horticulture and Food Processing, Director, Horticulture and Food Processing Fruit Industry Development Officer and other officers were prominently present in the meeting.
