After this, the police of Prime Minister Imran Khan has started presenting the explanation. The Pakistan Police said on Monday that they had found no evidence that the Afghan ambassador’s daughter was abducted from the capital, Islamabad. This was an incident that led to a major diplomatic dispute between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
In fact, Silsila Alikhil, the 26-year-old daughter of Afghanistan’s ambassador to Pakistan, Najibullah Alikhil, was kidnapped by unidentified people in Islamabad on Friday. After that he tortured her and beat her up. Silsila was kidnapped while riding a hired vehicle and held hostage for several hours before being released. She was found near the F-9 Park area of the capital and there were injury marks on her body.
What did the Pakistani police say?
Addressing a press conference, Islamabad’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Qazi Jamilur Rahman said that the police have collected video footage of all the places where the ambassador’s daughter had gone. The footage from around 300 CTTV cameras has been collected in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. He said that we have used all the resources for the investigation and the help of all law enforcement agencies has been taken. He said that the matter of kidnapping has not been proved so far.
Rehman said the police had analyzed all the footage of the ambassador’s daughter’s movement on the day of the abduction. According to the Dawn newspaper report, Rehman said, the information given about his abduction does not match with the evidence gathered by us. He said 220 people have been interviewed and all the footage has been analyzed to ascertain the whereabouts of the girl. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and National Security Advisor (NSA) Moeed Yusuf were also present in this press conference.
Ambassador’s daughter told her ordeal
In a statement to the police, Silsila Alikhil said that she had gone to buy a gift and during this time she hired a taxi. While returning, the driver stopped the car on the side of the road and another person sat in the car and started shouting at him. After that he started being beaten up. Alikhil says that he was assaulted. He said that she was scared and fainted. After that they do not remember what happened. She said that when she regained consciousness, she was lying in a dirty place.
