Delhi Police Searched Twitter Offices: On Twitter India offices, Delhi Police has ‘Red’ on Monday evening. A senior official of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell told The Indian Express that his team is raiding the offices of Twitter India in Delhi’s Mehrauli and Gurgaon’s Golf Course Road. The officer also told the Indian Express that the Delhi Police wants to know why Twitter has labeled ‘Manipulated Media’ on BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra’s tweet? What is the information about him in this regard on the basis of which this step was taken? The police also want to know what Twitter knows about that ‘toolkit’. The Delhi Police had also sent a letter to Twitter India about this a day earlier.
Delhi Police PRO Chinmay Biswal said that his team went to his office to give notice to Twitter India as part of a routine process. This was needed because the police wanted to know who was the right person to give notice and the answers given by the MD of Twitter India were very vague and confusing. On Monday, Biswal also issued a statement saying that he had received a complaint, seeking clarification on Patra’s tweet as ‘Manipulated Media’. He said, “It seems that Twitter has some information that we do not have and on the basis of which they have classified the tweet in this way… .Police wants to know the truth. Twitter should be clear about this. ”
According to the news agency ANI, the special cell team of Delhi Police has also done a search in the office of Twitter India at Lado Sarai in South Delhi.
On May 18, Sambit Patra and some other BJP leaders made such tweets in which the Congress was accused of preparing it by sharing screenshots of an alleged ‘toolkit’. Patra and other BJP leaders allege that the Congress Party has prepared this so-called toolkit to target the government’s functioning during the epidemic.
In response to this, many party leaders including Congress Social Media Department President Rohan Gupta wrote to Twitter complaining that the tweets of BJP leaders are about a ‘fake toolkit’, which is being wrongly linked with the Congress. Later, Twitter had labeled Patra’s tweet as ‘Manipulated Media’.
