Modi said that very recently we have been successful in bringing the forms of Guru Granth Sahib from Afghanistan to India. When I went to America a few months ago, America returned more than 150 historical objects to India there. He said that after the 2001 earthquake, I had got an opportunity to serve this holy place by Guru’s grace. At that time craftsmen from all parts of the country preserved the pride of this place. Guruvani was inscribed on the walls here with the ancient writing style. This project was also honored by UNESCO then.
The Prime Minister said that the place was heavily damaged by the cyclone of 1998, the Gurdwara Lakhpat Sahib and the 2001 earthquake caused major damage to the 200-year-old building of the Gurdwara Sahib. But still Gurdwara Lakhpat Sahib stands with the same glory.
Modi said that the valor and sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur against Aurangzeb teaches us how the country fights against terror and religious fanaticism. Similarly, the life of the tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib is also a living example of tenacity and sacrifice at every step.
The PM said that the bravery with which our Sikh brothers and sisters fought for the country’s independence even under the British rule, our freedom struggle, that land of Jallianwala Bagh, is a witness to those sacrifices even today.
