Referring to the rapid efforts being made to strengthen the physical infrastructure for the creation of self-reliant Madhya Pradesh, Patel said that the available power capacity of the state has reached 21,451 MW. This year the target is to increase the power generation capacity to 1,587 MW.
He said that the use of alternative and environment friendly sources of energy is being promoted in the state. According to Patel, world’s largest floating solar power project of 600 MW in Omkareshwar and 4,400 MW capacity solar parks are being developed at Agar, Shajapur, Neemuch, Chhatarpur and Morena.
Referring to various under construction irrigation projects, Patel said that the target is to increase the present irrigation potential to 65 lakh hectares by the year 2025 and this year additional irrigation potential is being created in 1.70 lakh hectares. He said that Rs 44,605 crore has been approved by the Government of India for the Ken-Betwa link project. The project will provide irrigation facility to 8.11 lakh hectare area and drinking water facility to 41 lakh population. Along with this 103 MW of hydroelectricity will also be available. (agency)
