Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden met for the first time at the White House on Friday. During this, the two leaders discussed many issues including the Corona epidemic, combating climate change, economic cooperation and the situation in Afghanistan.

After the meeting, Biden mentioned the growing intensity between the US and India. He described Prime Minister Narendra Modi as his friend. Biden said- “Welcome my friend to the White House. Biden continued, “The relationship between India and America has to be strengthened. Today will start a new chapter of India and America. First of all, we will fight against Corona. Let us tell you that before this, the two leaders met when Biden was the Vice President of America. But, this is the first time Biden is meeting Modi since becoming the 46th US President in January.

This was the first bilateral meeting between the two leaders. Modi and Biden have spoken on the phone several times in the past and have also participated in some online meetings. These include the meeting of the ‘Quad’ hosted by the US President in March. The last telephonic conversation between them was on 26 April.
