Nagpur. The strike of the resident doctors, who were on strike for their demands, continued for the fourth day. As the time of this strike is increasing, in the same way, the patients who come to the OPD are getting troubled. The arrangements of Government Medical College (Medical) and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College (Mayo), both the major hospitals of the city, are now faltering. Although senior doctors have taken the lead with graduate doctors appointed to house officers, the response to patients is getting less.
The reason for this is that the resident doctors have a direct connection with the patients coming to the OPD. The resident doctors were constantly treating the patients coming to the OPD on a regular basis. Many of these doctors are such that patients were regularly associated for treatment. Now in the new system, they are not able to coordinate with other doctors. Due to which the effect is visible on Medicine, Infant, Gynecological and Obstetrics, Neuro, Neuro Surgery, Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology Department, Oncology, Cardiology OPD. No one has the answer when this problem of patients will be resolved.
Outside patients more worried
The most troubled by the strike by the resident doctors are the patients from the outskirts of the city. The patients of the city will wait till the strike stops, but the strike is getting heavy for the patients coming from other states adjoining Nagpur along with the rural areas of the region. The reason for this is that most resident doctors understand the pulse of the patients. Because it has to happen while treating them. But due to the strike, they are facing problems due to change of doctors.
