Mumbai. Omicron, a new variant of Coronavirus, is spreading rapidly in India. This virus is more dangerous than the delta variant. Meanwhile, on Friday, 08 more cases of Omicron have been reported in Maharashtra. Out of which 4 patients have returned from United Arab Emirates (UAE) and 1-1 patient from America and Nigeria. While 2 people have been infected by coming in contact with these people. After which the number of infected in the state has increased to 40. State Health Department of Maharashtra has given this information.
According to the Health Department, the new 8 patients found on Friday are male and their age is between 29 and 45 years. All samples were taken in the first week of this month and sent for genome sequencing. Omicron has been confirmed in all these samples. Among the infected, 4 are from Pune, while two have come in contact with them, one patient is from Mumbai and the other is from Kalyan-Dombivli.

40 Omicrons infected in Maharashtra
After the arrival of new cases of Omicron, the total number of infected in the state has increased to 40. Out of this, maximum 14 cases have been reported in Mumbai. While Pimpri Chinchwad (10), Pune Rural (6), Pune City (2), Kalyan Dombivali (2), Nagpur (1), Latur (1), Vasai Virar and Buldhana (1) have been found.

902 new cases, 12 deaths
In Maharashtra, 902 new cases of coronavirus infection have been reported in the last 24 hours, while 12 patients died. After which the total number of infected in the state has increased to 66,47,840 and the number of dead to 1,41,329. Apart from this, 680 people have returned home after getting corona free. So far 64,95,929 people have been cured of corona in the state. At present, 6,903 active patients are being treated in the state.
At the same time, 295 new cases of corona have been reported in Mumbai within 24 hours, while only one patient has died.
