Nashik: Elections to 18 municipal corporations in the state will once again be postponed. Such a clear indication has been given by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, from which it is becoming clear that first the OBC census will be held and then the election of the municipal corporations will be celebrated in the state. It is to be known that the state government is preparing to complete the OBC census by next March. Presently OBC reservation has created a big dilemma for the state government.
Without OBC reservation, the commission has announced the city panchayat election schedule. Hence there is huge anger in the OBC community. Anti-government sign boards are being put up in many villages. Apart from this, other parties have repeatedly said that elections should not be held without OBC reservation. Elections to 18 municipal corporations, municipalities, zilla parishads and panchayat samiti will be held in February-March. Therefore, the state government has started taking steps in this direction. Preparations are on to hold this election only after getting OBC reservation.

Along with this, the state government has written a letter to the Election Commission asking it to postpone the election. Therefore, apart from the ongoing Nagar Panchayat elections, other elections are also likely to be held soon.
Will the administrator be appointed?
Supreme Court is also hearing on OBC reservation in January. In such a situation, the result of this election can come. At present, the term of the Municipal Corporation is about to end, it is discussed whether the term will be extended or an administrator will be appointed. Perhaps the state government can appoint an administrator at this place. The state government will also benefit from the appointment of an administrator. Choices can also be easy.
Omicron’s concern
Currently, the number of patients with Omicron virus is increasing at an alarming rate. So whether it is the current Nagar Panchayat election or the municipal elections. The threat of corona is looming in both these elections. There is a need to exercise some restraint in elections and follow the rules of Corona. Otherwise these elections will surely be costly. To avoid this, everyone involved in the election campaign should wear a mask. Inspire others to use masks as well. There is a need to maintain safe distance and emphasize on vaccination in the village.
