Aurangabad: The property tax amount is largely due towards the taxpayers of the city. Strict steps are being taken by the Municipal Administration to recover the amount of outstanding taxes. For this, a special flying squad has been formed under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Aparna Thete. In the last one fortnight, this team sealed 16 properties and cut 13 tap connections. At the same time, revenue of more than Rs 62 lakh was also recovered.
Municipal Deputy Commissioner Aparna Thete said that the amount of property and drinking water supply tax dues on behalf of the city holders has reached 462 crores. For the last 10 years, the municipal administration has not been able to realize the target given by the general assembly. With the increase in the number of arrears day by day, many problems are being created in front of the administration in recovering the amount of outstanding taxes. Many property holders have filed objections regarding tax collection and arrears. The work of taking the hearing on him is going on under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Thete. Thete said that the municipal administration has started the process of action against those who follow the policy of evasion in paying the outstanding taxes.

Special flying squad formed for recovery
Concerned over the rising graph of arrears, Municipal Administrator Astik Kumar Pandey ordered Deputy Commissioner Aparna Thete to constitute a special flying squad to increase the graph of recovery. A list of outstanding business property holders has been handed over to this team. The officers and staff of the flying squad are forcing the defaulters to pay the dues immediately. The process of sealing the property and breaking the tap connection is going on for the defaulter who is adopting the policy of evasion in paying the amount of taxes. In the last fortnight, the Special Flying Squad has sealed 16 properties and broke 13 tap connections.
To avoid action, the outstanding property holders paid Rs 62 lakh 9 thousand 100 in the vault of the Municipal Corporation. At present, the plan of waiving 75 percent interest on the outstanding amount is also going on by the Metropolitan Municipality. Taking advantage of this scheme, residents of the city have appealed to cooperate with the Municipal Corporation by paying the amount of outstanding taxes immediately, Municipal Administrator Astik Kumar Pandey, Deputy Commissioner Aparna Thete have appealed.
