Mumbai: Due to the dust storm, the air quality of Mumbai reached the worst level ever on Monday. The air quality in Mumbai on Monday morning was recorded at 502 AQI. According to scientists, this much pollution had never been recorded in Mumbai before.
Although Delhi is infamous for air pollution, Mumbai has recorded two times more air pollution than Delhi in the last 24 hours. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), which monitors the air quality situation, Delhi’s air quality was recorded at around 250 AQI on Monday morning, while Mumbai’s air was twice as bad.

Slight improvement in the evening
There was slight improvement in the air quality in Mumbai till evening. In the evening, Delhi’s air quality was recorded at 215 AQI, while that of Mumbai was 387. SAFAR director Gufran Baug said that the dust storm rising from the Gulf has engulfed Mumbai and the surrounding area. Due to which record air pollution has been recorded in Mumbai till date. However, the air quality will start improving from Tuesday evening.
AQI registered above 500 in Mazgaon and Colaba
The maximum pollution in Mumbai was seen in Mazgaon and Colaba. The air quality was recorded at 573 AQI in Mazgaon, 513 in Colaba, 453 in Malad, 451 in Borivali, 426 in Andheri, 416 in Chembur, 382 AQI in Bhandup, 349 in Worli and 328 in BKC. The above figures show that the air quality has reached the level of fatal in some areas, very poor in others.
Cold persists in Mumbai
It was cold in Mumbai. As per the forecast of meteorologists, the minimum temperature in Mumbai suburb dipped to 15 degrees Celsius and the city recorded 16.2 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature in the suburb was 24.8 degrees Celsius and the city recorded 24.6 degrees Celsius.
