Manipur Exit Poll Results 2022: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can once again form the government in the northeastern state of Manipur. According to the joint exit polls by Zee and Designbox, the BJP is likely to get 32-38 seats in Manipur with 60 assembly seats and can retain power with a comfortable majority figure.
According to the exit polls, the Congress will emerge as the second largest party in Manipur. However, there could be a huge gap of seats between him and the ruling BJP. According to the poll, Congress can get 12-17 seats in Manipur. On the other hand, Naga People’s Front (NPF) is shown getting 2-4 seats and others 2 to 5 seats.
Voting for the assembly elections in Manipur was held in two phases on February 28 and March 5. The state witnessed 76.04 per cent voter turnout despite several reports of violence on election day.
Manipur was once said to be a Congress stronghold in the Northeast. However, in 2017, BJP managed to form its government for the first time by making a dent here. Earlier, Okram Eboli Singh had led the Congress government as Chief Minister for 15 consecutive years. In 2017, BJP leader N Biren Singh, who switched from football to politics, took oath as the new Chief Minister of the state.

However, the process of government formation in Manipur in 2017 was also very interesting. No party got an absolute majority in the state. However, Congress emerged as the single largest party with 28 seats and needed the support of only 3 MLAs to run the government.
Whereas the BJP and its pre-poll allies got 21 seats in the 2017 elections. However, it happened later that the Congress could not garner the support of 3 additional MLAs and the BJP-led coalition staked claim to form the post-poll coalition government along with the rest of the MLAs. In this way, after 15 years, the Congress rule in Manipur ended and the BJP government was formed in Manipur.
Well, this time the final results of the elections will come only on March 10, when the counting of votes locked in EVMs will start. Meanwhile, leaders of both BJP and Congress have expressed full confidence of their party coming to the government in Manipur.
