Mumbai. The tension of the Uddhav Thackeray government has also increased due to the continuous increase in the cases of new variant ‘Omicron’ of Coronavirus in Maharashtra. Another new case has come to the fore in the state in the last 24 hours, which was found in the capital city of Nagpur. After which the total number of infected in the state has gone up to 18. Out of this, maximum 10 cases have been reported in Pimpri Chinchwad. Whereas, 5 cases have been found in Mumbai and one each in Kalyan Dombivali, Pune city, Nagpur.
The first case of Omicron was reported in Nagpur on Sunday. The patient is a 40-year-old male who had returned from East Africa. He has been admitted to AIIMS, Nagpur for treatment. This information has been given by the Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Radhakrishna B.
According to the state health department, 709 new cases of coronavirus infection have been reported in the last 24 hours, while 16 patients died. After which the total number of infected in the state has increased to 66,43,883 and the number of dead has increased to 1,41,259.

At the same time, in the last 24 hours in the state, 699 people have returned home after getting corona free. So far 64,92,504 people have been cured of corona in the state. At present, 6,441 active patients are undergoing treatment in the state. The recovery rate was 97.72 and the death rate was 2.12 percent in the state today. During this, 75,313 people are in home quarantine and 855 in institutional quarantine in the state.
Significantly, on Saturday, 789 cases of corona were reported in the state and 20 infected people died. However, the good thing is that 869 people have returned home after recovering from this dangerous disease.
