Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya hit back on Wednesday, saying that Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut cited the old dispute of “19 bungalows” in Korlai village because Raut has ill-will towards Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his family members. Somaiya said that Thackeray and his family did not support him when some allegations were leveled against Raut.
Former Mumbai MP Somaiya told reporters in New Delhi that it is a known fact that Uddhav’s wife Rashmi Thackeray had apologized in writing to Korlai gram panchayat in Raigad district in connection with the “19 bungalows” dispute. “But Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut raised the issue of 19 bungalows in a press conference on Tuesday because he wants to make Rashmi Thackeray’s letter public,” Somaiya said.

He said, “Raut has ill-will towards Thackeray because no member of Thackeray’s family stood with him when I made allegations against him (Raut) and his friends and relatives. I raised the issue of 19 bungalows in January 2021 but it was not even discussed in the last few months. He said that during the press briefing, Raut did not deliberately raise the issue of scam in allocation of COVID care centers in Mumbai but about these bungalows.
Somaiya had alleged a scam in the allocation of COVID care centers in Mumbai and lodged a police complaint on Tuesday. “People should ask Sanjay Raut about the letter that Rashmi Thackeray handed over to the Korlai gram panchayat apologizing in the 19 bungalow case,” he said. (agency)
