Jet Airways is preparing to fly again in the sky from October this year. Sanjeev Kapoor, who has many years of experience in the aviation sector, has taken over as the CEO of Jet Airways this month. Private sector airline Jet Airways led by Sanjeev Kapoor has now started resuming its flight service.
Sanjeev Kapoor told the English newspaper Economic Times, “We have set a target to start commercial flight service of Jet Airways by October. It can happen even earlier. Although I am not promising any time before that because we Don’t want anything to be left unfinished in a hurry.”
The CEO said, “There are certain expectations for the Jet Airways brand and we plan to live up to those expectations. Even we are trying to do better than that.” The company is also preparing to order new ships and is in talks with both Boeing and Airbus for this.
Jet Airways’ operations came to a standstill in April 2019 following bankruptcy and its flights have been grounded since then. The airline was bought by Jalan Kalrock last year through insolvency proceedings and then announced plans to launch it by the summer of this year.

Jet Airways is currently in the process of renewing its Air Operators Permit (AOP), only after which its aircraft will be able to fly again. Sanjeev Kapoor hopes that the company can get this permit in early May and then at the end of May, the company can start trial flights. If everything goes according to expectations, Jet Airways may start flights in the July-September quarter itself.
Sanjeev Kapoor said, “It is a very complicated, lengthy and rigorous process and now we are in the final stage. We want to make sure everything is perfect. We expect to resume flights a few months after getting the Air Operator Permit (AOP). We plan to start operations in October or a little earlier.”
Jet Airways was once the largest private airline in the country. Its founder Naresh Goyal led it for more than 25 years. The airline was shut down on 17 April 2019 due to lack of cash. Last June, the NCLT approved the insolvency resolution plan submitted by Colorrock Capital and Jalan, paving the way for the airline’s restart.
