The Jalan Kalrock Consortium, the new promoter of Jet Airways, has appointed aviation giant Sanjeev Kapoor as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the airline. Kapoor was earlier with Indian full service carrier Vistara and budget airline SpiceJet.
As part of its plan to resume operations by summer, Jet Airways has appointed Sanjeev Kapoor. The airline company on Friday announced that Kapoor will be the company’s CEO. Kapoor has been the Chief Operating Officer at SpiceJet and Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer at Vistara.
He resigned as the chairman of Oberoi Hotels on Thursday and is set to join the airline soon. Let us inform that on 17 April 2019, Jet Airways was closed after the cash ran out.

In June 2021, the NCLT approved the resolution plan presented by the Jalan-Colorrock Consortium, which includes UAE-based entrepreneur Murari Lal Jalan and UK-based ColourCapital. The Jalan-Callrock consortium-owned airline had earlier announced the appointment of former Sri Lankan Airlines CEO Vipul Gunathilak as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Ankit Jalan, part of the Jalan-Callrock Consortium and member of the Jet Airways Oversight Committee, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Vipul to our young and enthusiastic team. He is knowledgeable in the aviation sector and is seen as a transformative person in this industry.
According to Jalan, Gunatilak has been selected by the executive team of Jet Airways after several months of process. Gunathilak has served as the CEO of Sri Lankan Airlines till January, 2022. Prior to this, he was also the CFO of TAAG Angola Airlines.
Jet Airways is busy preparing to start its operations again. The Jalan-Callrock consortium has given it a new lease of life after it had to shut down its operations due to mounting debt.
