Unable to make brand
Along with getting loans, assistance in the form of grants should be provided to the entrepreneurs interested in setting up the jaggery industry. The other aspect is also that there is no control of any department over the jaggery producers, due to which no special efforts have been made regarding the quality of jaggery products. Due to this, some own brand of jaggery has also been made in the market. Wild vegetables found in the forests of the district are kept for exhibition and sale, whereas nothing like this happens in the context of jaggery.
If there is an event like Jaggery Festival, through this, publicity will be spread to bring awareness among the people about Jaggery and its by-products and their medicinal benefits. The jaggery manufacturers / crusher owners of the district can participate and exhibit their products. Manufacturers producing good quality jaggery can participate. The use of jaggery improves digestion. Jaggery is a good mood boost which helps in making the mood pleasant. Apart from this, jaggery also benefits in the problem of migraine.
Lack of marketing
The mantra of Vocal for Local was given at the national level. To make the rural economy self-reliant, everyone will have to take the jaggery production here. There is a need to make the jaggery production here self-sufficient on the lines of Vocal for Local. If this path is paved, then it can prove to be a big opportunity for the future. In the absence of proper marketing, Jaggery is visible only in common shops and hot in villages.
But the mall sells it at a higher price. Jaggery will be found kept in the stall in attractive packing of price gram, but if proper marketing is done then the famous jaggery of Kati can be recognized in the country as well as abroad. The benefit of which can be given to sugarcane growing farmers and jaggery growers in this region.
Patent could not be done due to lack of documentation
People like Kati’s jaggery and it has a huge demand in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh. At present, there is no system of giving any statutory certificate to authenticate the quality of these products, nor has there been any guide line regarding food safety standards. It cannot be patented in the absence of documentation. Due to which the jaggery of this complex has not got that identity so far, this industry has become a cottage industry in rural areas.
