The ban on scheduled international flights to and from India has been extended till 31 January 2022. The decision has been taken in view of the threat of the new corona virus Omicron. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has announced this on Thursday. The Directorate of Civil Aviation has said that scheduled international flights will be banned for 59 minutes at 11 pm on January 31. However, this ban will not be on international cargo operations and flights. Especially on those cargo flights which would have been approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. In special cases, international scheduled flights can also be allowed on selected routes. Scheduled international flights were to start from December 15, but keeping in mind the Omicron variant of Corona, the government has decided to stop it
The announcement of starting scheduled international flights will be done later.
According to the DGCA, ‘In view of the threat of Variant of Concern Omicron at the global level, the consultations received from all the stakeholders are being closely monitored. An announcement will be made only after the dates for resumption of the scheduled commercial international flight service are decided. India had stopped international flights from 23 March 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, under the air bubble arrangement made with about 28 countries, special international passenger flights were issued from July last year.
Now work in UAE will have to be done only four and a half days a week, rest from Friday afternoon to Sunday

Under an air-bubble agreement between two countries, their airlines can operate special international flights between their regions with specific restrictions on their side. India has signed air bubble agreements with around 32 countries including the US, UK, UAE, Kenya, Bhutan and France.
