According to which the officers of the local forest department reached the spot and laid a trap against the poachers and seized goods worth Rs 3.80 lakh including 42 live birds of Kavadi (collar dow) species and arrested 14 hunters. The above action has been taken by the local Lakhandur Forest Department on January 30 at 9:30 pm in Rohini Khet area of Tehsil.
Bird hunting at the end of winter
According to the information received, during the winter season in the last few years, wild birds are hunted in different areas by some hunters according to the demand of non-vegetarian citizens. These birds include Lava, Pheasant, Tanaya, Kavadi, Myna, Butter and other birds.
However, due to the large demand of these birds by non-vegetarian citizens in the winter season, birds are being hunted illegally by the hunters with the help of nets.
14 people arrested for hunting birds
During the night of 30 January, some hunters in Rohini Khet area of Tehsil gave secret information about hunting of wild birds with the help of nylon nets to the local Lakhandur Forest Department. According to which, under the leadership of local forest area officer Rupesh Gavit, field assistant I.G. Nirvana, Forest Guard S.G. Khandagle, G.D. Hatha, B.S. Patil, M.A. Bhaje, P.B. Dhole, R.A. Meshram, Praful Raut, Van Mazdoor Vikas Bhute etc. personnel caught 14 poachers red handed along with birds and goods at the spot in the presence of local Rohini police Patil Sachin Meshram.
Goods worth Rs 3.80 lakh seized
Six bikes, 5 mobile phones and some nylon nets were used by the 14 accused in the incident to hunt wild birds in the dark of night. However, by arresting the accused red-handed including 48 birds and garlands, by registering a case against 14 hunter-gatherers under the Forest Act, a total of Rs 3.80 lakh has been seized by the Forest Department.
All accused residents of Dharmapuri/Pandhargota of Tehsil
All the 14 accused arrested by the Forest Department in the hunting case of wild birds have been given information about being residents of Dharmapuri/Pandhargota of Tehsil. The accused include Ashish Moreshwar Shende (22), Khushal Nathu Shende (40), Rakesh Anandrao Shende (24), Jyotirao Sukhdev Meshram (25), Ashish Sukhdev Meshram (23), Kisan Tukaram Shende (26), Arvind Sahadev Shende (25). ), Sharad Devidas Shende (32), Deepak Shalikram Meshram (30), Sevak Sitaram Shende (46), Amar Ashok Shende (27), Ganesh Sahadev Shende (32), Pradumman Moreshwar Shende (22) and Amol Shankar Meshram (24). is included. However, a case has been registered against the said accused by the Forest Department under various sections of the Forest Act.
