The Suez Canal Authority of Egypt has launched an investigation into the huge ship Ever Given. Officers will investigate the situation before the ship gets stuck, during and after it is trapped. The 430-meter-long giant was stuck in the Suez Canal for about a week. Due to this, this route connecting Europe to Asia was jammed long.
The giant vessel was stuck on the eastern shore of the canal on 23 March and it blocked the passage of other ships. On Monday, after nearly a week of hard work, it was successful to take out the Ever Given ship. Only after this, the way for other ships to pass through this waterway was cleared. Syed Shehsa, advisor to the ‘Suez Canal Authority’, said that the investigation has been started on Wednesday and the results will be made public, as this is a global problem.
There will be agreement on compensation with the ship
The advisor of the ‘Suez Canal Authority’ said that through investigation it would be ascertained whether the captain of the ship had properly responded to the authority’s instructions before it got stuck. He said that we have demanded the black box of the ship. It has all the information from the beginning to the end of this crisis. We will also examine how the ship responded before the crisis. The consultant said that in three to four days an agreement will be reached with the ship on compensation.
The ship may be seized after refusing to investigate
If the ship tries to escape from the investigation and refuses to do so, the matter will be referred to the civil court. After this, a decision will also be taken to seize the ship. President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi urged people not to come to conclusions about the investigation. He said that the issue has been left to the canal authority and he will not interfere in it.
Estimates of 95 ships passing the Suez Canal every day by 2023
Osama Rabi, head of the ‘Suez Canal Authority’, said that 95 ships are expected to pass through this canal every day by 2023. Which is currently much higher than the passing of 50 to 60 ships every day. He said that 113 ships passed through the canal on the day the Ever Given was taken out of the canal. Right now the Authority is arranging for the passing of 422 ships, which are still waiting to pass through the Suez Canal.
