Haryana: The Haryana Government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding the ban imposed by the Haryana and Punjab High Courts on 75 percent reservation in private sector jobs. On which the Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing till February 11.
It is to be known that the Employment Guarantee Act of the Haryana Government was stayed by the Punjab and Haryana HC on Thursday. The court, in its order, had said, “It has failed to find merit in the state’s arguments of adhering to the law which is prima facie valid in the interest of unemployed youth of the state.”
Supreme Court adjourns the hearing for February 11 on an appeal of the Haryana government challenging the Punjab and Haryana High Court order staying the state law on providing 75% reservation in private sector jobs for local candidates.

It is worth noting that in 2020, the Manohar Lal Khattar government had got the Haryana State Local Candidates Employment Act 2020 Bill passed by the Vidhan Sabha for 75 percent reservation for the youth of the state in private jobs. A petition has been filed in the High Court against this decision of the State Government.

In fact, the Haryana State Local Candidates Employment Act, 2020 gives 75 percent reservation in private sector jobs to the job seekers of the state. Which has come into effect from January 15. This order has been applied to jobs paying maximum gross monthly salary or wages of Rs 30,000. However, this bill was kept by the Governor with him. After which, after meeting Chief Minister Manohar Lal and Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, the Governor signed the law by making minor amendments in the bill.
