Thane : The city development department of Navi Mumbai has decided to regularize the houses built by the project affected people. The decision was announced by City Development Minister Eknath Shinde in the presence of project affected leaders and leaders of Mahavikas Aghadi. During this, a wave of happiness ran across the faces of the project affected people. Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde said that Shiv Sena is your government. Shiv Sena is standing with the needy.
Significantly, in the 1970s, the CIDCO authority had acquired the land of the project victims for the construction of Navi Mumbai adjacent to Mumbai. When the 12.05 percent scheme was launched in 1990, a layout was developed by CIDCO for allotment of plots on land outside the village. For a long time, the project affected people had built houses on this land of CIDCO. However, these buildings are very dense, hence many problems like narrow roads, inadequate lighting, fire safety are seen. As a solution to this, in 2014, the government decided to redevelop the buildings of these project-affected people through a cluster redevelopment project. However, the project affected people urged the government to regularize the existing buildings instead of accepting the decision. Finally, between March 16, 2017 and February 16, 2018, the government directed the District Collectors, Thane and Raigad to conduct a survey of these houses. At the end of this survey it was found that there are 4 to 5 thousand houses in Navi Mumbai which are 30 to 40 years old. Finally today the government has accepted the demand of the project victims and decided to regularize these houses.
