Lucknow: Ganga Expressway is about to write a new chapter of progress, economic development and employment of the state. The longest 594 km long Ganga Expressway of the state is going to unite many states through Prayagraj to Meerut. People of many other states including NCR, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh are also going to get its benefit. From the industrial corridor along this expressway passing through 12 districts of eastern UP to western UP, many other economic activities are being promoted.
Ganga Expressway is going to prove to be a milestone in the infrastructure development of the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to lay the foundation stone of Ganga Expressway project in Shahjahanpur district on 18 December. The state government had approved the Ganga Expressway project on November 26 last year at a cost of Rs 36,230 crore.

18,55,000 saplings to be planted along the expressway
About 18,55,000 saplings will be planted along the expressway for environmental protection. Along with this, energy will be produced through solar power on the land acquired in the project, which will meet the energy required for the operation of the project. More than half of the Ganga Expressway is passing through Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun and Shahjahanpur districts of western UP. Another bridge will be built at Garhmukteshwar for the movement of people from other districts including Hapur and Bulandshahr.
Expressway will be helpful as industrial corridor
The Ganga Expressway will boost the income of agriculture, commerce, tourism and industries along with social and economic development. Apart from this, it will be helpful as an industrial corridor connecting various production units, development centers and agricultural production areas with the national capital. The expressway will act as a catalyst for the establishment of food processing units, warehouses, mandis and milk based industries.
Airstrip to be built in Shahjahanpur district
An airstrip is also to be built in Shahjahanpur district for emergency landing and take-off of Air Force aircraft on the expressway. Along with this, nine public convenience centers, seven railway over bridges, 14 major bridges, 126 minor bridges and 381 underpasses will be built for the convenience of the people. Interchange facility will also be provided at 17 places for entry and exit on the expressway. A service road will also be built for the residents of the villages around the project.
94 percent land purchased from 83 thousand farmers even in the peak of Corona
When the land was being purchased for the Ganga Expressway, at that time the wave of Corona was at its peak in the whole country. Despite this, in just one year, 94 percent land has been purchased from 83 thousand farmers for Ganga Expressway. About 7386 hectares of land is required for the project, in which more than 90 percent of the land has been purchased from 71,621 farmers in the last four months. So far, 94 per cent of the land has been procured from a total of 82,750 farmers.
