BOSTON — The former Fitchburg state senator and Republican third Congressional District candidate Dean Tran was indicted by a Suffolk County grand jury on expenses of violating state ethics legal guidelines.
Attorney General Andrea Campbell’s workplace introduced on Friday that Tran, 47, was charged with two counts of use of an official place to safe unwarranted privilege when he used his Senate workers to marketing campaign for him on state time and payroll.
The AG’s Office stated the violations occurred throughout Tran’s 2018 and 2020 reelection campaigns. The alleged marketing campaign actions included organizing fundraisers, knocking on doorways, and placing collectively marketing campaign mailers.
