Indian-American MP Raja Krishnamoorthi said, Corona can be fought from our AstraZeneca vaccine stores in India and other countries.
AstraZeneca Vaccine
Indian-American lawmaker Raja Krishnamoorthi on Tuesday asked the administration of US President Joe Biden to swiftly send AstraZeneca vaccines to India. Apart from this, these vaccines should also be sent to those countries which are struggling with increasing cases of corona. Due to the increasing cases of corona, the health system in India has risen badly. Everyday a large number of people are getting infected. The slow pace of vaccination is also emerging as a hindrance.
Krishnamurthy tweeted, saying that Corona can be fought from our AstraZeneca vaccine stores in India and other countries. I request a briefing from the Biden administration, along with MPs Carolyn B. Maloney, James E. Clyburn and Stephen Lynch, so that the vaccine can be rapidly sent to countries where it is needed. Krishnamurthy also praised the efforts of Health Minister Javier Bakerra and Foreign Minister Antony Blinken in a letter to the US Congress.
Now the administration needs to help other countries
In this letter, the Indian-American lawmaker wrote, “We appreciate the steps you have taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in America.” After the administration’s great success in saving American citizens, now we should help those countries of the world who are struggling with the growing Corona affairs. We applaud the administration’s decision on Monday, 26 April 2021, in which it prepared to send 60 million AstraZeneca vaccine doses to the international community.
Necessary to send vaccine to countries fighting with Corona
In the letter, Krishnamurthy said, Corona cases are coming up on a large scale in India, Argentina and Brazil. In India alone, more than 1 million people have become infected within just three days. It further wrote, The administration’s decision to send the vaccine seems correct, as the AstraZeneca vaccine is currently not used in the US. The reason behind this is that the company has not yet applied to the Food and Drug Administration for emergency use.
Vaccine delivery to happen after review of ‘Food and Drug Administration’: White House
However, White House press secretary Jane Saki said on Monday that these vaccine shipments would not be sent immediately. Until the ‘Food and Drug Administration’ reviews it, not a single dose will be shared. In such a situation, it may take several weeks. At the same time, the US has taken a pledge that on July 4, it will celebrate the occasion of its Independence Day as a COVID Free country.
