Delhi Weather Updates: In the month of April itself, the heat and heat of heat has started intensifying in many states of North West India including the national capital Delhi. According to the Indian Metrological Department (IMD), the scorching heat in Delhi is likely to increase further. The Meteorological Department said that no relief is expected from the heat for at least six days ie this week.
The IMD said that the maximum temperature in the national capital is expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 43 degrees Celsius by Saturday. The maximum temperature of 39.6 degrees Celsius was recorded on Wednesday last week, which is the highest temperature so far this season.
Heat rising due to lack of rain
Met officials said hot weather conditions in northwest India have turned ‘severe’ due to prolonged absence of rain. Officials said heat wave conditions are likely to prevail over most parts of Northwest India and Madhya Pradesh during the next five days.
A heat wave is declared in the plains when the maximum temperature exceeds 40 degrees Celsius and is at least 4.5 degrees above normal. According to the Meteorological Department, if the temperature is 6.4 degrees Celsius above normal, then a ‘severe’ heat wave is declared.
Warning of severe heat wave in these states
IMD said that during the next 5 days, there is a possibility of heat wave in Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, South Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
Similar conditions are predicted in Gujarat, North Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar today.

Today, heavy rain has been predicted in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh while during 06-08 April in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning is very likely at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, West Bengal and Sikkim during 06 to 07 April.
Light to heavy rains may occur over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karnataka during the next 5 days. Today it is likely to rain in Karnataka and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
