Doctors say that the number of patients with breathing problem in the OPDs of hospitals has increased by 20 percent. Apart from this, experts also believe that the current level of AQI can have a serious impact on patients who have recently recovered from corona virus infection.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Dr. Sandeep Nayar of BLK-Max Hospital said that there has been a 20 per cent increase in patients facing lung-related problems. These patients are facing severe symptoms in the last 15-20 days due to the changing weather.
He said that the level of pollution has increased after Diwali and now whether it is due to stubble burning, vehicle smoke or bursting crackers, there has been an additional 10 per cent increase in the number of patients in the last few days.
On the other hand, Dr Rajesh Chawla of Indraprastha Apollo Hospital said that the cases of respiratory problems have increased since Diwali. Doctors say that patients who have recovered from the corona virus or are still admitted in the ICU may find it difficult to breathe due to pollution.
Dr Chawla further said that bronchial hyperactivity like asthma may be seen in some people. About 20 to 30 percent of the patients who have recovered from COVID-19 will be affected. It will not be limited to this year, but will continue for a long time to come. The effect of pollution will be more on those with weak lungs.
