COVID-19 Vaccination Program: Last month, the world’s largest Covid-19 Vaccination Drive was launched in India in January. Under this, health workers started in the first phase by vaccinating the corona vaccine. In this month, frontline workers were also added under this program and now next month more than 50 years of age will be vaccinated. Under the Corona Vaccination Program, people above the age of 50 years have been placed in the Third Priority Group and according to an estimate about 27 crore people will be vaccinated. The Indian Express has given this information to the Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan.
The government had already clarified that the corona vaccination program phasewise would be run. Under this, the first phase started on 16 January and the second phase started on 2 February. Health workers and frontline workers were included in this.
The fourth phase will start in the third or fourth week
The Union Health Minister informed the Lok Sabha a day ago on Friday 5 February that after two-phase vaccination, the government is now focusing on the third phase. However, when the third phase will start, information has not been given and it can start on any day in March. Harshvardhan said that it is very difficult to say when the third phase vaccination will start. However, it is likely to start in the third or fourth week of March.
More than 50 lakh people have been vaccinated
So far more than 50 lakh people have been vaccinated in India. Apart from this, the vaccination program started at a record level in India and in just 18 days, more than 40 lakh people had been vaccinated. India is also helping other countries for the vaccination program. So far it has supplied 56 lakh doses to 15 countries through grants and 105 lakh doses through contracts. The Union Health Minister informed that 22 countries have demanded vaccine from India. These include Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Bhutan, Egypt, Kuwait, Maldives, Mauritius, Morocco, Oman, South Africa, Sri Lanka and UAE.
